I would like to wish everyone a prosperous and Happy New Year and thank all the people who have contributed toward the ‘Nifty Club’.

As you all know we appealed to the generous nature that has always been at the heart of Weybridge Cricket Club for some help with the temporary financial situation that we found ourselves in towards the end of 2009.

To date, we have received £7959.00 in donations from 20% of our membership base, which is an enormous effort but there is a further 80% of members (players and non-players) out there who could still contribute and help stabilise the Club’s finances. Any additional funds will help the Club continue to thrive and be the place where members socialise throughout the year, play and watch family members play cricket.

Also a big thank you to all members who gave the Club interest free loans, in this current economic climate it is very much appreciated and has made a huge difference and taken some of the worry away from the Committee. The Club is now on a level footing and the future is looking positive.

We still need all your support and this goes beyond finances, it’s the members that make WCC what it is, so please continue to come down have a drink and join in any of the social events throughout the year.

I would like to thank you for your support and hope my committee and myself don’t let you down. There was a couple of things I neglected to say at the AGM and that was I would to thank all our new sponsors, and also to thanks Seamus Gallagher for organising the Phoenix Club.

I would like to think we will have the same success as last year and wish all Captains and players a very successful season and I would like to see the colts grow on last year’s efforts.

Quite a few lady members have offered to help with social events so one person doesn’t not have to do all the work. If you have any suggestions for forthcoming events please let me know.

It won’t be long now before the Clubhouse is full of players and I hope enjoying more cricket.

As there were no questions asked at the AGM am I to assume everything is fine as the next time to ask any questions will be the next AGM. We did send an email requesting any questions you needed to ask at the AGM and all we had was two replies, which is very good to my committee and I.
